Showcase Animation
From concept to finish, this project was a complete package. The only guidelines we were given as a team were to create a sequence that had fly-thoughs, 2D and 3D and over 2 minutes long. My involvement was the backbone of the project. I created pages upon pages of conceptual sketches for the character which we decided should be a game show presenter, there would later be drawn up ready for the character modeller. In addition to this I worked on a simple studio design. It had to be fairly simple to model due to the time scale. I came up with something quite flashy and fun and proceeded to model the environment in 3D Studio Max. Once I had completed the studio in full 3D we brought the character and the environment together so we could begin with creating the time based sequence. Whilst the media team began rendering movements in 3D I switched to 2D again and began planning what was to go on the laptop model (which appears in the sequence). I used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for this and then placed it into Adobe After Effects to begin the animation sections. The idea was for it to look like it was an interactive game, this would give another dimension to the overall animation. I followed the theme I had visualised for the studio and rendered it in HD so it could be integrated into the timeline. Once all the 2D and 3D sequences had been collated they were placed together using Adobe Premiere. I selected a soundtrack and the result is a stunning 3D and 2D, multi disciplined animation sequence. The client Tower One were absolutely thrilled with the outcome and even more thrilled that illustrations of themselves appeared in the 2D part of the animation.
